This Family Mother (in photo) Maria, 20, Father, Cristian, 23, and two boys Cristian, 4, Kevin, 9m, was renting a house before Maria inherited a piece of land from her grandfather and moved where they actually live now.
The land measures 10X10 meters and they have built a shack with corrugated metal sheets, corn stalks and dirt floor. Cristian is the head of this family, he works in agriculture in Jocotenango with a salary of $53 per week. Maria makes and sells food with this she earns around $26 per week to sustain her family. They don’t have access to running water, electricity nor drainage. They just have one bed for the whole family.
